Canada Federal Skilled Worker Program is a golden opportunity for skilled migrants to obtain Canada Permanent residency (Canada PR). However, Canada PR Visa under Federal Skilled Worker Program cannot be obtained by anyone who wishes to have it. Thus, there is a set parameter of eligibility criteria which are based on certain factors. Such as, an individual’s age, educational qualification, work experience, language proficiency, family background, arranged employment, adaptability, etc. Therefore, an individual gets certain points for each factor and should score minimum 67 points to be eligible. Canada PR Visa under Federal Skilled Worker Program has a point system of 100 points which are divided in various factors.

CANADA FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY

In order to be eligible for Permanent Residence under the Federal Skilled Worker Program, you must:

• Firstly have minimum 1 year of full-time or equivalent to it paid work experience in last ten years in a skilled occupation or
• qualify for Arranged Employment in Canada with a LMIA and a full-time, permanent job offer from a Canadian employer; or
• Similarly have completed PhD or two years of study in Canada towards a PhD
• Secondly language ability in English or French
• Thirdly have a diploma, bachelor degree, from Canada or an equivalent foreign degree in form of a ECA report
• Must have sound health
• Moreover may not have any criminal records

However, as an aspirant of Federal Skilled Worker Program you also need to score minimum 67 points out of a total of 100 points. FSW point system comprises of six selection factors stated by the Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s (CIC). Specifically these six selection factors are as illustrated below:

Arranged Employment in Canada

Settlement Funds for CANADA FSWP

Federal Skilled Workers who are invited by CIC indeed need to prove that they can become economically established in Canada.  In particular they need to prove their financial stability and of their dependent family members. However, settlement funds requirement is waived for foreigners who are currently authorized to work in Canada or those who have arranged employment in Canada.  

Medical Examinations

Federal Skilled Worker candidates and likewise their dependents have to complete medical examinations as soon as an ITA is issued. However, medical results have to be be valid at the time of application for permanent residence and at arrival in Canada.

Processing Time for CANADA FSWP

IRCC aims to process complete Federal Skilled Worker applications in standard processing time of six (6) months or less.
