Eligibility for a sponsor in this category:

A Canadian permanent resident or a citizen of Canada whose age is 18 years or above can be a sponsor. Thus, they can sponsor a spouse or dependent children to come to Canada as permanent residents. To be eligible a sponsor should fulfill below-illustrated criteria:

• Sponsor has to provide financial support for a spouse, common-law or conjugal partner. They must support spouse for three years from the date they become a permanent resident.
• The Sponsor must give financial support for a dependent child for 10 years, or until the child turns 25, whichever is earlier.

A spouse is eligible to apply under this visa as a spouse if they are married to sponsor. Their marriage has to be legally valid. It must be accepted by the law of Canada & the country where the marriage happened.

• Their marriage must be legally valid in the country where the marriage took place. Also, be valid as per Canadian Law.

Eligibility for dependent Children
